ESS

An ESS comprises two or more BSS, connected via a Distribution System (DS).

When APs connect to the DS in “Root mode”, the APs can communicate with each other, to locate other wireless clients and allow the forwarding of frames data frames.

In this configuration, the access points may also support roaming of clients throughout the ESS.
